FPT University was established on September 8, 2006 under the Prime Minister's Decision No. 208/2006/QD-TTg and operated under the Regulation on organization and operation of private universities under Decision No. 61/2009 / QD-TTg, issued on April 17, 2009 by the Government.

The mission of FPT University is to provide the global competitiveness for learners, expanding the nation's intellectual horizon 

The difference in the FPT University's training method is close association with enterprises, in accordance with international technology standards training, fluency in two languages, soft-skills training, human development focusing, comprehensiveness, harmony. 

The goal of FPT University is to train and provide high quality human resources in Information Technology (Major in Software Engineering, Information Assurance, Graphic Design), Business Administration ( Specialized in Business Administration, International Business, Travel and Tourism Management, Hotel Management, Multimedia Communication), English Language, Japanese Language for local businesses, foreign corporations and startups from FPT University students.
